Legionella Analysis +
  • Air Conditioning Units
  • Cooling Towers
  • Hot Tubs
  • Spas
  • Jacuzzis

Testing schedules vary with locations and specifications that are set out by your risk assets. Typically spas, Jacuzzis, hot tubs and showers are tested monthly, cooling towers and air conditioning systems quarterly or bi-annually.

Legionella analysis takes 10 days to complete on receipt of samples. However, clients are notified immediately during the 10 day incubation period, if any presumptive colonies are isolated

drinking water analysis +
  • Total Viable Count at 37 degrees and 22 degrees
  • Coliforms
  • E.coli.

3 days on receipt of samples. Swimming Pools, Spas, Jacuzzis, Hot Tubs

Most importantly with Drinking Waters, there should be an absence of Coliforms and E.coli . In particular E.coli as this indicates the presence of faeces.

EEC guidelines no longer issue upper limits to follow but recommend trend analysis be maintained. However, staff at Sci-Tech Water Treatment Ltds are happy to give advice if requested.

Food Preparation Water +
  • Total Viable Count at 37 and 22 degrees
  • Coliforms
  • E.coli
  • C.perf
  • Enterococci

(The latter two parameters are usually requested in meat preparation areas e.g. abattoirs).

Swimming Pools, Spas, Jacuzzi, Hot Tubs +
  • Total Viable Count at 37 and 22 degrees
  • Coliforms
  • E.coli
  • Pseudomonas

Staph. Aureus is available if requested.

3 days on receipt of samples

The presence of Coliforms, E.coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa. The presence of these organisms would bring about the closure of a Pool, Spa, Hot Tub, Jacuzzi.

Recreational Water +
  • Total Viable Count at 37 and 22 degrees
  • Coliforms
  • E.coli
  • C.perf
  • Enterococci.

If the water has been sampled from a water course it is inevitable that there is likely to be the presence of faecal indicators. Enterococci and E.coli. These will have entered the water course via mammals, birds and fish

Borehole & Spring Water +
  • Total Viable Count at 37 and 22 degrees
  • Coliforms
  • E.coli
  • C.perf
  • Enterococci.

The nature of the water makes it inevitable that there will be the likelihood of the presence of faecal indicators Enterococci, C.perfringens and E.coli. Before any treatment of the water, Total Viable Counts are likely to be raised also.

Installation of filters and UV lighting will reduce, and in some cases eradicate potentially hazardous bacteria

Chemical analysis of the water is sometimes required but this is dependent on the final usage of the water.

Reliable self-testing for Legionella

Breakthrough technology for rapid legionella testing and detection.
Get accurate on-site results in 25 minutes.

view our legionella self-test kits

Hydrosense is the world’s only test that can detect Legionella pneumophila  serogroup 1 on-site in 25 minutes (compared with 7-14 days for traditional methods) and yet can be performed by anyone with minimal training. The convenience and incredible ease of use, make Hydrosense test the first choice for companies where reputation is crucial; where customer and employee safety are paramount; where clients are vulnerable and where facilities are in remote locations.

Our Hydrosense Ultra Legionella Water Test is very flexible and highly sensitive. It detects Legionella at concentrations as low as 100 CFU/L.

The Kit is very easy to use and allows water testing from any source.

Because of its high sensitivity, it is recommended for higher risk industries and applications.

  • Detects Legionella pneumophila SG 1Sample volume: 250ml Sensitivity: 100CFU/L
  • Sensitivity: 100CFU/L
  • One test per pack Provides straightforward results, on-site, within 25–35 minutes
  • The test helps to minimise delays and downtime
  • Regular use increases confidence in Legionella controls
  • The smartphone App reader provides an independent record of results
  • Part number: 100198
  • Shelf Life: 18 months from the date of manufacture.

The Hydrosense Ultra Legionella Swab Test is intended for sampling surface biofilms.

Instead of testing a water source you simply swab the area to obtain the biofilm sample.

Legionella grows in biofilms, therefore testing the surface of shower heads, air conditioning units, water tanks, taps, spa pools etc. while paying particular attention to any biofilm deposits, gives a very accurate picture of the condition of your water system. This kit is also very useful for locating the source of infection, which often will be within biofilms. The sensitivity of the kit is 200 CFU/swabbed area.

  • Detects Legionella pneumophila SG1Sample Area: 10 cm²Sensitivity: 200CFU/swabbed area
  • One test in pack
  • Provides straightforward results, on-site, within 25–30 minutes
  • The test helps to minimise delays and downtime
  • Regular use increases confidence in Legionella controls
  • The smartphone App reader provides an independent record of results
  • Part number: 100220
  • Shelf Life: 18 months from the date of manufacture

Our Hydrosense Multi Legionella Water Test is very flexible and offers an action-based approach to testing.

This range can detect Legionella pneumophila at 1,000CFU/L and 10,000CFU/L with the use of our Hydrosense visual scorecard. These specific action levels were chosen because they correlate with Legionella guidance across the EU, USA and more.

The Kit is very easy to use and allows water testing from any source.
